Missed Call From +291?
Unrecognized international numbers are a common pattern in Wangiri ("one ring") scams: the caller hangs up after one ring hoping you call back a premium-rate number. If you don't know anyone in Eritrea, don't call back. If the call matters, the caller will try again or leave a message.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which country has calling code +291?
Eritrea.
How do I call +291 from the US?
Dial 011 291 followed by the national number without its leading zero.
What does 00291 mean?
00291 is +291 written with the international prefix used in the UK, most of Europe and much of the world: 00 replaces the plus sign, so 00291 and +291 reach the same number in Eritrea. From the US and Canada the prefix is 011, so the same code is written 011 291.

Not necessarily, but treat unexpected international calls with caution. One-ring missed calls are the classic Wangiri callback scam: hoping you return the call to a premium-rate number.
