What This Site Is
AreaCodeCheck.com is a free area code lookup built and operated by the team behind a family of verification tools: CardBinCheck (card BINs), SwiftCodeCheck (SWIFT/BIC codes), IbanCodeCheck (IBAN validation), IPSnapshot (IP intelligence), and AreaCodeCheck (phone prefixes). One principle across all of them: free, fast, premium-quality tools with no registration and no dark patterns.
Where the Data Comes From
Area code locations, timezones, and city coverage come from Google's libphonenumber project (Apache 2.0). Country calling codes follow the public ITU E.164 assignments, and NANP assignments are public data administered by NANPA.
libphonenumber data is refreshed monthly on our own infrastructure.
The country phone format pages, the browser-side validator and the bulk validator are also powered by the Google libphonenumber metadata (Apache License 2.0), the validators via the libphonenumber-js build (MIT License), self-hosted. Validation runs entirely in your browser; numbers and lists you provide are never transmitted or stored.
The fictional (drama) number ranges are compiled from the regulators' own public documentation: NANPA (North American Numbering Plan Administrator), Ofcom's telephone numbers for drama purposes, and the ACMA Telecommunications Numbering Plan. Country local times on format pages are computed in your browser from the standard IANA time zone database.
What It Can and Cannot Tell You
A prefix shows where a number was assigned, not where the caller is: numbers are portable and caller ID can be spoofed.
Accuracy and Corrections
We compile data from the sources above in good faith, but no dataset of this kind is perfect: institutions change codes, ranges get reassigned, and datasets lag reality. Treat results as strong guidance, not gospel, and verify critical details with the institution involved. Spotted an error? Email [email protected] and we will investigate.
Privacy
