About Toll-Free Numbers
Numbers in the 877 range are toll-free: the receiving business pays for the call instead of the caller. Toll-free codes (800, 833, 844, 855, 866, 877, 888) are not tied to any city or state and work across the United States, Canada, and the other NANP countries.
Because they are cheap to obtain, toll-free numbers are also popular with robocallers and scammers. A legitimate business will never object to you hanging up and calling back through the number on its official website.
